North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has added 28 mines to China's latest list of national-level green mines, ranking second among all provincial-level regions in terms of new additions, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Inner Mongolia now has 442 green mines, including 73 at the national level, reflecting continued progress in advancing greener and more sustainable mining.

The newly recognized sites cover key mineral resources such as coal, lead, and zinc, and are located in major mining areas including Ordos, Xiliin Gol League, Hulunbuir, and Chifeng.

Since the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021–25), Inner Mongolia has accelerated the green transformation of its mining industry through targeted policies and technical support.

Mining companies have been encouraged to enhance resource efficiency, adopt energy-saving technologies, promote intelligent mining, and strengthen ecological restoration in line with local environmental conditions.

The region has also refined its green mine standards, tightened environmental requirements for new projects, and upgraded existing mines, fostering the growth of nationally recognized green mine clusters.

Inner Mongolia will continue to advance ecological restoration, smart and low-carbon upgrades, and the efficient use of mineral resources to support the high-quality development of its mining industry.
