CHN Energy establishes coal industry research institute in Inner Mongolia
China Energy Investment Corporation Co (CHN Energy) announced the establishment of its coal industry research institute in Hohhot, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on June 27.
The institute aims to support the coal industry’s high-quality development by advancing safety, green development, intelligent mining, and operational efficiency, while contributing to the implementation of major national research programs.
Driven by major projects and industrial applications, the institute will integrate basic research, technology development, and the commercialization of research outcomes. It will also promote foster among government, industry, universities, research institutions, and end users to accelerate innovation.
The institute has established six research centers focused on coal exploration and mine planning, deep coal mining, major mine disaster prevention and control, intelligent and efficient underground mining, intelligent and efficient open-pit mining, and green coal development.
Inner Mongolia is one of China's richest coal-producing regions. CHN Energy operates 36 coal mines in the region, with a combined approved annual production capacity exceeding 340 million tons.
