North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region launched its second agricultural and livestock product packaging design competition on April 29, aiming to strengthen branding and unlock greater market value through innovation.

The competition, utilizing the national authoritative platform of the Chinese Design Award, targets major sectors, including beef and mutton, dairy products, grains, and specialty farm produce, as well as traditional Chinese and Mongolian medicinal materials.

Inner Mongolia ranks fifth nationwide in grain output and leads the country in the production of milk, beef, mutton, and cashmere.

Despite these strengths, challenges such as low-end packaging, weak cultural differentiation, and limited e-commerce adaptability have constrained the premium potential of its high-quality products.

Organizers said the event will focus on integrating regional cultural elements and green concepts with modern design, new materials, and advanced techniques to build a more market-oriented packaging system, improve brand recognition, and enhance competitiveness.

At the launch ceremony, officials introduced submission guidelines and evaluation criteria, while showcasing standout works from the previous edition. A follow-up session connected experts and enterprises for in-depth exchanges on branding, AI-enabled design, and commercialization.
