Nine thematic programs to headline Inner Mongolia cultural season
Inner Mongolia announced on April 17 that the 2026 Inner Mongolia Cultural Season will run from April 21 till the end of September, featuring nine thematic programs designed to showcase the region's cultural diversity.
The season will open with a preliminary program from April 21 to 24, including the 2026 China (Hohhot) Performing Arts Trade Fair, which will highlight premium stage productions and cultural tourism.
Launch events will feature nine performances, including themed song-and-dance shows under the title "Impressions of Inner Mongolia", the symphonic suite Lantu, and concerts by emerging local singers.
A featured performance program will present 20 productions across the genres of drama, dance, and musical theater.
Exhibitions will form another major segment, with seven events including a historical and cultural exhibition of Hohhot, displays from the Museo Egizio (in Turin, Italy), the seventh National Ethnic Art Exhibition, and an Intangible Cultural Heritage Nadaam Fair.
The cultural tourism integration program will stage resident performances at destinations including the Chilechuan Grassland, Mausoleum of Genghis Khan, and Ejine Banner.
Meanwhile, regional brand events will draw on cultural landmarks such as the Yellow River, Great Wall, and Xiliao River.
Public participation programs will include grassroots activities such as village singing, choirs, and square dancing, alongside cultural performances integrated into sporting events and outreach programs by Ulan Muqir art troupes.
Screening and broadcasting initiatives will promote audiovisual works and short videos, while a final gala performance at the end of September will conclude the cultural season.
