The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently released its 2025 list of green manufacturing entities, adding 33 companies from North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region as national-level green factories and two industrial parks as national-level green industrial parks.

These new additions represent further progress in the region's efforts to build a modern green manufacturing system.

Local authorities said green manufacturing has been positioned as a key driver of high-quality industrial development. The region has implemented a systematic approach that emphasizes intensive land use, non-hazardous raw materials, cleaner production, waste recycling, and low-carbon energy use to accelerate the green transformation of its manufacturing sector.

Efforts are also advancing in key industries such as steel, chemicals, and metallurgy. With stronger policy support and better resource allocation, enterprises are encouraged to adopt advanced technologies, carry out energy-saving and carbon-reduction upgrades, and modernize production processes. Industrial parks are also improving green infrastructure to further support sustainable development.

So far, Inner Mongolia has established 170 national-level green factories, 20 national-level green industrial parks, 510 regional-level green factories, and 32 regional-level green industrial parks.

Green factories now account for 28 percent of the total output value of manufacturing enterprises above designated size in the region, reflecting a growing demonstration effect and stronger green coordination across industrial and supply chains.
