The Inner Mongolia delegation to the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) held a press conference in Beijing on March 11, where spokesperson Hao Songshan briefed the media on the delegation's work.

Hao noted that a total of 56 NPC deputies from Inner Mongolia attended this year's session. Prior to the meeting, the delegation organized study sessions on draft laws, including the ecological environment code, the law on promoting ethnic unity and progress, and the national development planning law.

During the session, the delegation held five plenary meetings and nine group meetings to deliberate on reports and draft bills. The delegation submitted three collective suggestions to the congress, while deputies individually or jointly put forward 111 additional suggestions, all aimed at securing stronger national support for the region's high-quality economic and social development.

While reviewing the government work report, deputies proposed suggestions to advance the Three-North Shelterbelt Forest Program, accelerate the development of large-scale renewable energy bases in desert areas and power transmission channels, develop rare-earth materials, expand coal-to-oil and coal-to-gas projects, and promote the green computing industry.

During their review of the draft outline for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30), deputies offered suggestions on promoting coordinated regional and urban-rural development, ensuring high-quality and sufficient employment, and building strong brands for specialty agricultural and livestock products.

While deliberating the draft ecological environment code, deputies called for accelerating local legislation, strengthening legal education, and enhancing supervision over the law's implementation. They said they would work to ensure the code is effectively implemented in Inner Mongolia and help raise public awareness of ecological protection and the rule of law.

During deliberations on the work reports of the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate, deputies proposed measures to strengthen judicial talent development, expand the scope of public-interest litigation, address difficulties in enforcing court rulings, improve judicial protection of workers' rights, and safeguard a fair and just market environment.
