Inner Mongolia to advance education equity and quality
Du Huiliang, a deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC) and head of the Inner Mongolia Department of Education, has called for coordinated efforts to improve both the fairness and quality of education across the region.
Du said the 2026 Government Work Report provides clear guidance for advancing high-quality education development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30).
According to Du, the region will focus on the following key priorities.
The education system will strengthen moral education and cultivate students with a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, integrating this principle throughout school management, teaching, and student development.
Efforts will be stepped up to improve the quality of education while expanding equal access. The region plans to optimize the distribution of basic education resources, revitalize county-level senior high schools, and expand the supply of high-quality educational resources.
At the same time, digital transformation and smart education initiatives will be accelerated to help narrow gaps and promote greater education equity.
Meanwhile, reforms will be advanced to enhance the quality of higher education, Du said.
Authorities will promote differentiated development among universities, improve the structure of higher education, and strengthen the modern vocational education system to make it more adaptable and attractive to students.
Utilizing the region's geographical advantages and industrial strengths, Inner Mongolia will also optimize academic disciplines and talent training programs, while making continued efforts to cultivate and attract top-level talent with an eye on innovation.
