Wild animal resources

Inner Mongolia is home to 613 species of terrestrial wild vertebrates, belonging to 29 orders, 93 families, and 291 genera. These include eight amphibian species, 27 reptile species, 442 bird species, and 136 mammal species. Among them, 52 species are listed under China's Class I national protection, and 117 species under Class II national protection. In addition, 75 species are designated as protected wildlife at the autonomous region level.

Wild plant resources

Inner Mongolia has 2,619 species of vascular plants, including 2,551 seed plants and 68 fern species, belonging to 144 families and 737 genera. Two species are listed as Class I nationally protected wild plants, and 45 species are under Class II national protection.
