The 3rd Xiliin Gol Winter Mongolian Horse Super League Finals kicked off on Feb 1 in Xiliin Gol League, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, drawing more than 5,000 spectators and tourists to the snow-covered grasslands.

A total of 319 riders competed on 319 Mongolian horses, turning the event into a grand showcase of traditional grassland horsemanship.

The competition featured five main events that blend tradition with athletic challenge: a 15-kilometer endurance race, a 9.6-km three-rider team relay, mounted archery, mounted hada (a piece of silk cloth used to pay tribute or to greet guests) pickup, and a 6,000-meter traditional pacing race showcasing the Mongolian horse's steadiness and grace.

The opening ceremony was held in a concise and solemn manner, with riders entering the arena on horseback and teams from across the league making a collective appearance, setting the tone for the races that followed.

Beyond the track, visitors enjoyed a lively winter festival atmosphere. Traditional activities, such as wrestling and archery, offered immersive cultural experiences, while horse riding, costume try-ons, and parades proved especially popular with families. Local specialties, including Xiliin Gol mutton and dairy products, along with a variety of cultural souvenirs, further enhanced the event's appeal.

By combining competitive sport with rich cultural experiences, the league continues to celebrate the spirit of the Mongolian horse while boosting winter tourism on the grasslands.
