Du Fenglian, a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference's (CPPCC) Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Committee and vice president of Inner Mongolia University, actively fulfilled her duties by submitting proposals and policy briefs throughout last year.

Her proposal on expanding border traders to boost Inner Mongolia's cross-border trade was adopted by the CPPCC National Committee and the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy.

Another proposal on piloting carbon emission quotas based on consumption shares won the second prize of the Inner Mongolia Outstanding Achievement Award in Philosophy and Social Sciences. She also took part in the CPPCC Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Committee's consultations, including those supporting the high-quality drafting of the region's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30), offering systematic policy recommendations.

"Stay grounded in reality and do research that matters," Du said. Guided by this principle, she and her team have undertaken more than 70 national and provincial-level research projects, with the findings repeatedly translated into practical solutions for regional development.

Balancing her roles as an educator and a CPPCC member, Du remains committed to both teaching and policy advice. She is currently studying China's opening-up policies and preparing proposals on building a key gateway for northward opening-up and advancing the China–Mongolia–Russia Economic Corridor. Drawing on sustained research and field studies, she aims to continue contributing intellectual support to Inner Mongolia's high-quality development and talent cultivation.
