The Preface

2024-01-22 (chinadaily.com.cn)

Hailisen Gacha, a village in the Horqin Right Wing Front Banner of Hinggan League, Inner Mongolia autonomous region has become a popular tourism destination thanks to continued efforts by teachers and students from the Communication University of China in Beijing.

"Hailisen" can be understood as "elm trees" in Mongolian, and "Gacha" means village, translating Hailisen Gacha as "a place with elm trees". This small village owns 486 ancient elm trees.

Recognized as a model for rural tourism, Hailisen Gacha is an example of China's endeavor in promoting rural vitalization.

In November 2023, 43 students and teachers from the Communication University of China spent three days in Hailisen Gacha exploring more perspectives of the village as part of the efforts made to show Chinese rural life through the artistic tension of imagery.
