In early winter, tens of thousands of migratory birds flying south stopped over and began foraging for food in Ejine Banner – administered by Alshaa Banner, in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – according to local media reports.

Ejine Banner has been a land of abundant water and grass and a paradise for migratory birds returning from the south since ancient times.

In recent years, it has always adhered to ecological priorities and green development and has continuously improved its ecosystem and environment.

It has comprehensively promoted the implementation of the river and lake chief system and the forest and grass chief system, actively carried out the protection and management of wild animal habitats, and continued to increase inspections and patrols of key resting waters for bird migration, to protect the visitors.

According to statistics, through the continuous strengthening of its biodiversity protections, the population of migratory birds migrating to Ejine continues to expand every year. At present, these are mainly mute swans, whooper swans, egrets, herons and gray geese.
