The opening ceremony of the 16th Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Games was held at Baotou Olympic Sports Center on Aug 8.

The ceremony consisted of a march-in by athletes, cultural and sports performances, and the lighting of the main cauldron.

Drawing on Inner Mongolia's profound cultural heritage and Baotou's urban characteristics, the performances focused on diverse range of themes, including ethnic integration, industrial innovation, and green development.

The Games serve as the highest‑level and most influential sports event in Inner Mongolia autonomous region. They not only serve as a platform for competitive sports but also as a showcase of ethnic unity and national fitness.

This year's edition features 37 major events and 860 sub‑events. Delegations from 12 leagues and cities are taking part in the competition, demonstrating the achievements of Inner Mongolia's sports development and the spirit of people from all ethnic groups.
