Mandula Port achieves half-year target ahead of schedule

Updated: 2026-05-11

The import and export cargo throughput of Mandula Port in Baotou, Inner Mongolia autonomous region had exceeded 5 million metric tons as of May 6, a year-on-year increase of 121 percent.

This has seen it achieve its half-year target some 55 days ahead of schedule, setting a new high for the port's cargo throughput.

As an important port on the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor, Mandula Port has advanced clearance facilitation and infrastructure upgrading since 2026. It has completed renovation to streamline passage operations, raising its daily cargo clearance capacity to 80,000 tons.

Meanwhile, an efficient coordination mechanism has been established through the joint efforts of government authorities, customs, and enterprises, removing bottlenecks in cargo clearance, warehousing, and transportation links, and ensuring efficient cargo circulation.

Imported goods at the port are now mainly resource-based products such as coal and fluorite, which effectively guarantee the raw material supply for key industrial enterprises in the local area and surrounding regions.

The breakthrough in cargo throughput further consolidates Mandula Port’s pivotal role in building an important bridgehead for China’s opening-up to the north, while also laying a solid foundation for achieving the annual cargo throughput target and advancing high-quality development of the port economy.
