Baotou holds training session on medical security for 16th Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Games
More than 100 medical backbones from 13 medical institutions in Baotou attended the special training session on medical security for the 16th Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Games.
The training session invited two senior experts from the Inner Mongolia People's Hospital to give lectures focusing on four core modules: core capabilities of event medical security, on-site emergency response skills, first aid for common sports injuries, and rapid response to sudden acute illnesses.
The session used real emergency cases from large-scale events as a starting point, explaining the standardized treatment procedures for conditions ranging from common injuries such as muscle strains and joint sprains to high-risk acute illnesses like sudden cardiac death and exertional heat stroke.
"Every second saved in first aid means greater safety for athletes," said the lecturing expert. Medical support for major sports events must shift from a "hospital emergency mindset" to an "on‑field proactive intervention mindset". Focusing on three key areas — the core competition zone, athlete rest areas, and public spectator areas — medical staff members must be capable of operating first‑aid equipment such as AEDs, spinal immobilization devices, and compression bandages.
"The training content closely matches actual competition scenarios and is highly practical," said Ding Guoliang, president of the Fourth Hospital of Baotou. The hospital will open a green emergency channel for the 16th Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Games, set up special diagnosis and treatment areas, reserve emergency beds and operating rooms, and form an elite multidisciplinary team. This will ensure efficient, convenient, and high-quality medical services for athletes and coaches.
To date, all preparations for medical security of the 16th Games have been completed. A special medical security plan has been finalized, 52 first-aid teams have been formed, 29 ambulances have been deployed, and 104 kinds of first-aid supplies across eight major categories have been procured and stocked.
