Baotou is carrying out a comprehensive upgrade of the core venues for the 16th Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Games to provide this grand sporting spectacle with first-class facilities and high-quality services.

Baotou Olympic Sports Center Stadium is the host venue for core events including the opening ceremony, track and field, rugby, archery, and others. As a sports landmark completed in 2010, the stadium has been in use for more than a decade, resulting in aging and wearing of the turf, plastic running track, stand seats, and supporting facilities.

To fulfill the hosting duties and benefit public fitness, Baotou has carried out an all-round upgrade of the stadium in strict accordance with national-level competition standards.

"The lawn is a direct showcase of the event," said Jia Shuai, a representative of the on-site construction team. "The original lawn suffered from varying degrees of wear, degradation, and insufficient flatness. We have carried out a comprehensive restoration of the damaged areas, leveled the foundation, standardized turf replanting, and adjusted the site flatness. Construction standards were strictly controlled throughout the process to ensure they meet the requirements of professional competitions, providing a safe and stable venue for the event."

The upgrade will serve not only the Games but also long-term usage. Upon completion, the stadium will be capable of hosting high-level competitions and will open to citizens for free or at low fees, becoming a high-quality public sports space for residents. 

The renovation project is currently in its final stage. The construction team is speeding up the schedule, ensuring the last stretch is conducted safely and to a high quality, injecting new impetus into the high-quality development of Baotou's sports cause.
