Baotou company promotes green development
Baotou Aluminum Co's 200,000-metric-ton high-quality wrought aluminum alloy and recycled aluminum circular utilization project is seizing market opportunities through efficient production and green intelligent manufacturing, consuming 70,000 tons of recycled aluminum annually.
The entire project, from waste aluminum procurement, crushing and screening, paint removal and smelting to casting and warehousing, is fully automated, with a daily average production capacity of 400 tons.
Since the project was put into operation at the end of June last year, the production line has been running continuously at full capacity, achieving robust growth in both production and sales. Nearly 30,000 tons of products were delivered in 2025, and the project got off to a flying start in early 2026, with 6,800 tons produced in January.
The project's energy consumption per ton of recycled aluminum is only 5 percent that of primary electrolytic aluminum, and carbon emissions account for a mere 3.6 percent to 5 percent of primary aluminum. The use of recycled aluminum directly reduces carbon emissions in the aluminum industry and significantly lowers dependence on primary bauxite.
China relies on imports for 77.6 percent of its bauxite supply. Recycling 70,000 tons of aluminum can reduce the need for bauxite mining by about 112,000 tons, easing pressure on raw material supplies and supporting the aluminum industry's shift toward greener, high-quality development.
Du Jianwen, a company representative, said that their main product is aluminum alloy flat ingots, which are widely used in rail transit and construction, as well as the automotive industry.
The utilization of recycled aluminum greatly reduces carbon emissions caused by high-end new material production, improving resource utilization efficiency and product added value, while opening up a new path for the supply of high-end new materials.
