Skilled talents serve Baotou's rare earth industry

Updated: 2025-07-23

Since the construction of the "two rare earth bases", the rare earth industry in Baotou Rare-earth High-tech Zone has been developing rapidly.

Since 2024, the zone has created 6,523 new urban jobs, including over 1,200 new jobs in the rare earth permanent magnet industry, injecting strong momentum into the construction of the "two rare earth bases".

Over the past two years, the zone's employment department has adhered to the development concept of focusing on industries, connecting industries, serving enterprises, optimizing specialties, and promoting employment. By organizing various job fairs, skills training workshops, and developing employment opportunities for key groups, it has promoted "two-way matchmaking" between enterprises and workers.

The zone has guided evaluation institutions, such as China Northern Rare Earth and the Baotou Construction Industry Association, to conduct talent evaluations, providing a scientific evaluation system for the development of skilled talents. It has accumulated 706 new talents and issued a skill enhancement subsidy of 1.33 million yuan ($185,642) to 859 enterprise employees, solving talent shortage problems in enterprises and providing strong support for technological innovation and industrial upgrading.

The zone has taken innovative measures to build an efficient and collaborative development link for upstream and downstream enterprises in the rare earth industry, activating various links in the industrial chain with stable human resource supply and promoting the construction of the "two rare earth bases" from scale expansion to quality and efficiency improvement.
