Baogang Group turns wastewater into resources
Baogang Group has pioneered a groundbreaking wastewater treatment system that transforms industrial wastewater into reusable water and valuable salts. The company's total wastewater treatment project is the first large-scale zero-liquid-discharge (ZLD) initiative in China's steel industry, purifying 350 cubic meters of wastewater per hour.
Over 95 percent is converted into high-quality recycled water for production, saving 3 million metric tons of freshwater annually. The remaining 5 percent undergoes evaporative crystallization, yielding reusable sodium chloride and sodium sulfate.
By adopting advanced filtration and desalination technologies, Baogang Group has elevated its effluent quality to Grade IV surface water standards, resulting in a 112-ton reduction in fluoride emissions per year.
This innovation underscores the company's commitment to green, sustainable steel production, reshaping industry perceptions of wastewater management.
