A seminar, under the theme of integrated innovation development in science and industry, was held on Jun 8 in Baotou regarding the construction of China's largest rare earth new materials base and a globally leading rare earth application base.

Ding Xiufeng, Party secretary of Baotou; Zhang Wentao, head of the Inner Mongolia Science and Technology Department; and Wang Jinbao, head of the Inner Mongolia Industry and Information Technology Department, attended the seminar, where academicians and industry experts exchanged views on topics such as technological innovation and industrial chain extension.

The meeting reviewed the achievements made by Baotou over the past two years in rare earth raw material supply, new material production capacity enhancement, and reform of the scientific research mechanism. It emphasized the need to promote the clustering and high-end development of the rare earth industry with a global vision.

Ding Xiufeng stated that the city will deepen the integration of scientific and technological innovation with industrial development, enhancing the resilience of the industrial chain and striving to build a world-class rare earth application base.

Representatives from national ministries, universities, scientific research institutes, and key enterprises also attended the event.
