The National Development and Reform Commission recently announced the list of national backbone cold chain logistics base construction in 2025. Baotou was selected and named as the "Baotou National Backbone Cold Chain Logistics Base City", the only city in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to be selected and creating another "national brand" in the region.

The Baotou National Backbone Cold Chain Logistics Base is located in the central and western regions of Inner Mongolia. Supported by a modern intelligent cold chain logistics platform, the base aims to become an important national agricultural and livestock product trading, transit, and distribution base.

A total of 2.19 billion yuan ($304.87 million) was invested in the base, while the total storage capacity of the cold storage is 778,000 cubic meters. The investment density is 2.27 million yuan per mu, and the relevant indicators are higher than those of similar projects in the same region during the same period.

The base will further improve the multimodal transportation network of cold chain logistics, promote efficient connection of national and regional cold chain logistics networks, improve the scale of cold chain trunk transportation in the base, and smooth international cold chain logistics channels, supporting the integration of cold chain logistics into the modern logistics operation system.
