Seminar on wind power equipment industry held in Baotou
The Seminar on High-Quality Development of the Wind Power Equipment Industry was held on Nov 19 in Baotou, bringing together 120 participants, including officials from the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, Baotou city, and the city's Shiguai district, along with representatives from 37 member enterprises of the Inner Mongolia Wind Power Equipment Industry Promotion Association, 38 applicant companies, and financial institutions.
The seminar focused on the current state and future trends of the wind power equipment industry, aiming to advance the development of the full industrial chain. Participants called for a healthy, sustainable industrial ecosystem and the integration of renewable energy development with equipment manufacturing in Inner Mongolia.
Wind power equipment is one of 16 key industrial chains identified by the region in 2023, playing an essential role in Inner Mongolia's strategy to build eight major industrial clusters. Baotou and Tongliao have been designated as two key manufacturing bases for wind power equipment, with a complete industrial chain now taking shape.
The sector is moving toward greater scale and efficiency, with enhanced supporting capabilities, consolidating Inner Mongolia's position as a major national hub for renewable energy equipment manufacturing.
The Inner Mongolia Wind Power Equipment Industry Promotion Association is expected to strengthen its role in industrial research, collaboration, and investment promotion, serving as a bridge between turbine manufacturers and supporting enterprises, research institutions, and testing agencies.
Enterprises were encouraged to cluster and cooperate, with leading companies urged to accelerate the introduction of supporting firms, strengthen local manufacturing and supply capacity, and shift from assembly-based operations to full-scale production.
The event also witnessed the signing of a framework procurement agreement between Mingyang New Energy Investment Holding Group and Baogang United Steel Co. Under the agreement, Mingyang will procure steel from Baogang to build 1,000 wind turbines in northern China by 2025.
